 Eldest Child

The Eldest Child was here for a visit. We do not see her alot because she is a full time Dental student and a full time employee. She is of course the balls.

I miss our giggle time and today we giggled together for a couple of hours. She has a great sense of humour and a huge sense of herself which is rare at 20. Her siblings love her as she is kinf and patient and very willing to go out on a limb for them. Gabe especially looks at Kate (Pie) with all the love that a son can send to a mother. When I m not there and Dad is not there Gabe's "Nate" is there. What a lucky boy! What a lucky family! What a blessed MOM!!!

Kate is no bigger than a minute
and never has been. But she is huge on spirit and strength. I am proud to have raised such a lovely human being!!

Gabe was a lobster for his halloween party at school, and just arrived home with tons of loot. Goodness ...............he can eat for weeks and it isn't even the Big Day yet!! No wonder he is as round as he is tall, and I say that with all the love a MOM can call up. Good thing "Beloved Nate" is gonna be a dental hygienest. Who knew you'd have dental emergencies at least once a year? Blessings Friends! maria

Can you say "FALL GUY".

Seems a cynical statement but I am betting he isn't the only guilty idiot in this mess.

Wonder if Shit will ever run up hill?

 Ritual and Random comments

I guess I am a woman of ritual. I read everyone's blog on my faves list, and comment. I have coffee which is always cold and CNN on the tube. It is comforting in a way to do the same things every day.

My husband hates this aspect of my personality. He is always looking for ways to shake things up. When the kids were babies I had them on tight schedules because I believe that they needed that. He always looked forward to screwing up that schedule.

Now however, years later I think it has been good for the kids to have a balance. They are not as wigged out as I am when things don't flow as I think they should.

Rosa Parks will lie in State in the Capitol Rotunda and I am proud that will happen.

Clocks go back this weekend, arrrrgh!! Why mess with our daylight? This means that it will be dark at 4:30 pm, and dark when we get up in the morning. No wonder people get cabin fever in winter. We are all light deprived.
================================================
Hubbie and I had a date last night. Been a while since that happened and kinda stinks that it had to be a weeknight. At least we finally fit one in. The kids are so busy this weekend, that I want to order a taxi sign for my van. Marching Band Season is almost over though so in a few weeks the taxi will get to park. Sundays are for me though, and my Pats are back from a Bye. Bruschi may play which might be interesting

Candy night is Monday. The kids are geared up for sure.....even the 15 year old wants candy.
Few people know that Halloween is an old pagan tradition. Although i am not sure where the candy came in. Old Hallows Eve is the night when the veil between the living and the dead is the thinnest. All things supernatural are intensified. The worlds of life and death can blend easier, can communicate easiest. Wiccans use this night to celebrate harvest which is why we have symbols of pumpkins, apples and corn stalks. It is a time of gathering and celebration of a plentiful growing season. Also this is the time to prepare for the winter months, which are the best time for inner reflection and growth.

 Proof

Proof of God watching over us! The week before Colleen got so sick our insurance kicked in. How's that for good luck? We got the first bill, 1200.00 for the cat scan. I wonder about the rest. Thank the lord for insurance. We would be wiped out without it. Cheery this a.m. aren't I?

What is it about getting older that causes someone to take inventory of their life?

My best friend called me yesterday. He is writing a book and wants my input. I was catching him up on all the latest news and he kept coming up with all of these wise words of comfort. Usually he is a smart ass and has given his wife many a sleepless night. He is 43 and really has run his life in less than a mature manner. I do love him so, and because I am just his friend I can love all his faults. He is the only person I would ever allow to use the word retarded around me.

Often when we talk, I am the wiser, calmer one and all of a sudden he senses I am in need of wiseness and calmness and comes through. I believe he is growing up. We finished with promises of dinner together with our families while we are in Maine over the holiday. I miss him.

It must have been my lucky day cause all of my men called me. My Dad called me at 7 am just to make sure we were moving forward and not spending any more time in the hospital. I miss my parents alot and cannot wait to see them at Thanksgiving. I am gonna eat at least 2 lobsters, and bring home a bag of Maine apples, there are none better.

My Colleen is doing well, so well that I worry that she is over extending. Gabe is better, but still drinking lots of water to flush his system. Alannah (my 15 yr old) has brought her grades up so much that I am beaming. It feels good to not worry about her for a change.

I am seriously considering gathering some of my poetry together and submiting a few to a publisher. I am not sure where to start, anyone care to offer advice?

Brian you are the most generous spirit to offer encouragement, thankyou my new friend!
